The goal of the Alliance for Teen Pregnancy Prevention is to reduce teen pregnancy among high-risk, low-income youth ages 12 to 18, in the downtown and central Los Angeles areas. This is done through comprehensive pregnancy prevention and sexuality education courses that include information and discussions about teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, communication skills development, a commitment to abstinence, monogamy and/or protected sex, and a family planning clinic tour. The program also includes education and support for teen mothers and fathers in preventing repeat pregnancies and providing life skills training, and peer mentoring.
